Emotional addiction = Anger
People who have adopted Type 1 are action-focused, have a demanding practical sense, which gives priority to the tasks to be performed. The emotional addiction is anger, which is unconscious, being justified by the striving attitude and virtuous self-image - I am doing my part. The name Perfectionist comes from the high level of requirement, which makes them known as picky. "If it has to be done, it does not matter whether you like it or not, it has to be done."
The main negative consequence , this way of organizing resides in the difficulty in recognizing their real needs. Such a departure from oneself reveals hard and uncompromising people, attached to the dichotomy of right-wrong, just-unjust, adequate-inadequate, believing that the effort makes them deserving. "Se todos fossem como eu, não teríamos de passar por isso".
In companies, we find Type 1 usually connected to an area where its effort can be measured. Accounting, finance, organization and methods are some of the common areas. Their practical sense is very useful in situations where the main themes are organization and achievement. But in their compulsion, there will be few who will adapt to their high level of demand. Details become disproportionate. “Of course this is not good, if you tried harder, you would understand that good is the enemy of great.”
For greater balance:
When Type 1 recognize their behavior pattern as a way of organizing themselves rather than what they really are, they are open to developing neutralization of emotional addiction (anger) and contact with themselves through the virtue of Serenity. This tool helps them to recognize what they want from themselves, no longer through the certain-errado, allowing greater integration of their feelings, thoughts and actions.
